No, absolutely not. The attitude of Germans have entirely changed after WW2. Germany was until the end of WW2 always a rather militaristic country. But that has completely changed. Americans are very proud of their military forces. Most Germans have a very unfavorable view of their own military forces. Many people consider soldiers as murders. That's also a reason why Germans have a unfavorable view of the U.S. The U.S. is considered a very militaristic country.
Germans have a patriotic feeling, but it's completely different to the jingoism in the U.S. Most of us think that Americans are way too patriotic.
Many Germans think that Americans are unable to learn from history or from their mistakes in the past. Whereas most Germans view Germany as a country that has learned from their huge mistakes.
Elderly people have normally a more favorable view of American politics. Whereas younger people are mostly more opposed.
As I've already said, I find German mind to be very profound and discerning.
People like Mortpes here do not understand apparently that in order to achieve the results of pre- WWII society, such society first of all rids itself of any dissent, of any politically active people and those discerning minds, sending them to camps or downright eliminating them. Only then the desirable effect can be achieved.
So this time around, with no such system/threat in place, Germans will figure it all out on their own.
"To stand up to the Russians?"
Ariete, in the nineties Russians pulled their troops from everywhere, let the Baltics go, removed their ideology ( so scary for the West,) but tell me what they've got in return?
So obviously it's not the Russians that's a problem, as downright mean, straigthforward and brutal they can be.
It's obviously America, far more pretentious and pacifying on a surface is a root of a problem.
You raped and enslaved half of Europe for 40 years. You didn't deserve anything in return. Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Crimea... Of course it's scary.

"Half of Europe" was serving the Fascist ideology. No serving fascist ideology - no dire consequences. None of that "half Europe" is taken, unless Russia itself is under attack. That's number one, and number two - the satelites were serving the economic purpose after American encroachment on European continent ( financially/economically speaking.)
Besides, "the raped and enslaved half of Europe" is doing just fine somehow, after the "horrible Russians." You don't understand apparently the difference between REAL annihilation and temporarily subdued population.

Again - absence of deeper understanding on your part; you see rather small picture. Georgia wouldn't have even existed as a country to begin with, if not for Russia that supported and protected it from the neighboring Islamic countries in the region for centuries.
Moldova? Look at it now, without Russia. How does it fair and how did it fair back in history?
Ukraine? Ukraine is Russia's birth place - enough said.
And Crimea is full of Russians, (always has been,) that are not interested in artificial Ukrainization.
So obviously when Russians let their guards down, in the nineties, it was the right time to let them finally have that middle class and that "democratic society" that Europe has. They deserved that much, but that's what precisely has been denied them.
No more whining now about what's coming next, and about that terrible "Russian Moloch."

Russia is the problem, not the US.
No, I repeat again - it's the US. Russia is only doing its job of controlling American insatiable appetites for the world domination.
