My opinion of Americans was nothing but overwhelmingly positive.
Until my life in Wisconsin and until I started reading certain posts and posters on the internet, this CD forum including.
It was a real eye opener.
I saw "the other side of the Moon" so to speak.
Wisconsin is trash, pretty much everywhere outside the D.C metro area. Come here and you'd love us
Yes, in France, most people have a favorable view of the USA and American people... contrary to public opinions.
The lies in this comment are too much to handle. either way I don't mind the fact that they dis-like us. In fact they're right to but this pushes the point the us should cut ties with Europe it will help the world grow right
I've just read Kasparov's post and I want to say that that's the problem with so-called "Putin's opposition" in Russia, since like Kasparov they all deep down in their soul worship the golden calf and America.
They promote American interests and work for American interests, all while claiming to be "Russian patriots." They refuse to see that what made America prosperous historically speaking, is a wrong path for Russia, substituting country's wants and needs for their own wants and needs.
No wonder Russians consider such "opposition" good for nothing, since they already have people in charge, who substitute their own wants and needs for wants and needs of the country.
Good riddance, America can keep Kasparov and the likes of him)))

This is another one of those stereotypes, I just drove to Germany a few days ago and the driving standards are horrible, even very dangerous. I lived in Texas in the past and never saw so may polite drivers in Texas and other parts of the US. So maybe that's the reason why Germans hate you, Americans do know how to drive.
Right, and people seem to think that in Germany, all roads are autobahns (obviously they're not), and all autobahns are free of speed limits (not true). And they also don't factor in the perpetual construction zones, even in areas that are supposedly free of speed limits.
In Germany, you have four speeds available to drive - in the order of likelihood:
1) 31 MPH on all non-autobahn roads in built up areas (and there are lots of them)
2) 5 MPH through construction zones or traffic jams
3) 62 MPH in rural areas if you're lucky not to be inundated by hordes of people on bicycles
4) The occasional burst of speed on an autobahn when you suddenly realize "Hey, I better take this rare opportunity to put the pedal to the metal because by some fluke, there is no construction going on and there's no backed up traffic! WOOHOOOOOO!!! Oops..well that was fun for a few seconds."
My paternal grandparents and my maternal great grandparents left Europe for a NEW life in the U.S. Why younger Americans are so enthralled with Europe and with making the U.S. more like Europe is beyond me. They spent too much time traveling to Europe instead of visiting cities in their own country. The U.S. is not Europe. We don't want to be ruled by a king.
