Germany did so much to forget Hitler and it's "legacy" , i wonder what Germans think about the whole Charlottesville situation?
"Forget"? To the contrary, Germany, from what I've heard/read, does everything possible to ensure that subsequent generations learn from the experience, and develop empathic values. The past guides a certain aspect of the school curriculum to this day.
Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it. Maybe that's part of the problem in the US; people think "all that stuff" happened in Germany, not in the US, so there's no need to address it, and the psychological roots of it, specifically.

well i meant they don't talk much about it, at least from my personal experience...war is a topic avoided in daily conversations. Even with friends. I am sure at school , they learn and debate.
