There's no shortage of excellent summer vacation destinations within France, and most will have far fewer visitors this year from other EU countries. France and EU probably won't be allowing tourists in from North America or Asia either, so domestic tourism within France is a good idea for health and economic reasons.

France is not the only country that will be encouraging domestic tourism this summer. I have read articles along the same theme about Germany, and pick any other country in Europe and you will probably find more of the same.

Yes, we have no choice with the likelihood of our borders being closed at least until Christmas. Looks like winter and summer holidays at home. Melbourne instead of Kenya, Byron Bay instead of Japan.
Who would have thought!

And ironically just yesterday the 2 most affected countries one of which being France said they're against Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria joining Schengen. Even more hilariously this happens after the PM of Bulgaria said Schengen isn't priority at all. I mean what should happen for the west to stop bitching about eastern europe? Especially when your country gets ravaged by a virus...I guess we shuold wait for the next wave this winter since if the virus removes all citizens then there will be no one to complain anyway even if they want to.

It makes a lot of sense, when travel insurances no longer cover Covid-19.
