On paper, Russian President Vladimir Putin seems like a humble statesman with a modest income.
The Kremlin claims that Putin earns an annual salary of $140,000. His publicly disclosed assets include an 800-square foot apartment, a trailer, and three cars.
But according to some experts, he may be the wealthiest man in the world with assets totaling up to $200 billion.
So what, he is still gnome with a funny voice, old one too.
So what that half his country has no indoor plumbing, while he owns a flotilla of super yachts and palatial estates throughout the world. Not even gonna mention the cash. Gotcha.
Forbes rich list out today has Elon Musk #1 at $215B as of March 11. Yesterday he made a paper $800M on his Twitter holdings, and $4.5B on his Tesla. I think he'll give Putin a tough run.

Agree. Must be nice when you (Musk) buy a stock and because you
(Musk) buy it it goes up 27% in one day....rich getting richer kind of thing.
I wonder if Putin has stocks?...and which ones...would be interesting to know
Putin and Musk are probably neck and neck,
my money is on Musk....I have a feeling Putin's net worth is decreasing

Not if he put most of it in trusts, like some other oligarchs did. That's why no one knows how much money he had stolen from his country and where he stashed it.

Truth be told, I am not confident that he will actually be able to ever enjoy all the wealth he's amassed. Between being an international pariah and with his days potentially numbered, either from whatever mystery ailment he may be suffering from or other potential imminent demise as a war criminal, it might all have been for nothing. Only time will tell.
I recently read that one of his daughters despises him so much that she even changed her last name.

This isn't news, really. There have been articles about his wealth, or speculation, for decades. And really? -- a modest apartment, a trailer and 3 cars? No dacha? I'm not buying it. Really, if he's trying to fake modesty, he could at least be culturally correct about it. Everyone has a dacha, if only a shack in a corner of a vegetable garden.
People like Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe (whom the country was finally able to sideline, after he ruined it), and various other African potentates, along with the Sultan of Brunei, various Arab sheiks, and such don't think one or two hundred billion is a ridiculous amount of money to have. You see, these are the kind of people he invites comparison with. It's a very 3rd World mentality.
Bill Gates only has a mere 138 billion, a quick internet check reveals, but he also has a charitable foundation, and gives some of it away. Oligarchs aren't known to be a charitable bunch. Perhaps Russia's tax laws aren't set up to encourage that sort of thing, I don't know.
Well, except he and his cronies don't really have their money anymore, do they? Hasn't most of it been frozen in foreign accounts?
