I called up Icelandair to book a flight to another European city. A lady answered. My God, what a strange accent that was.

Then I politely ended the call and proceeded to book online.

Strange? It should have sounded a bit like a Norwegian accent. Though Icelandic does have some weird vowels/diphthongs.

What a ridiculous question, of course it isn’t, Dublin isn’t a “ global city “ and its multiples the size

Most capitals aren’t global cities, it’s obviously an informal non definitive term but global city applies to a relatively small exclusive club

Definitely not.

Based on the city proper and metro area population, Reykjavik is smaller than Baton Rouge, Louisiana or Knoxville, Tennessee.

Spent some time there. It did not feel like a global city to me. Not even really a city-like feel at all, at least not by American standards. More like a cozy Nordic town by the sea. The people were pleasant, and everyone we encountered spoke very good English. It was incredibly easy to get around, in that sense. Stockholm has more of a cosmopolitan, or global, feel to it.

I visited back in April after I made this poll.

I definitely don't consider it one, and really it feels more like a town than a city. It also is too car based for my taste, compared to the other Scandinavian capitals which have bustling downtowns (which Reykjavik doesn't really have).

Went to Copenhagen with similar weather as Reykjavik at the time, and there was a lot more downtown activity in Copenhagen. Reykjavik just seemed eerily quiet.
