I'm 56 and wondering is it worth it to excercise at my age. Will it make a difference. I'm not over weight at all, but could use firming up. Will excercise help this or is it too late?

Exercise will absolutely help with muscle definition. Sedentary people also tend to build up plaque in their veins; getting mobile and exercising keeps your veins flexible and moves that junk out out of there. That plaque leads to arterial hardening and heart disease. Even skinny people can have that problem.

Yeah I have been referred to as a fat skinny person. I have asthma so I need to start something slow. What excercise do you recommend?

This is a good question. You should start your own thread about it so people will see it and respond.

The short answer from me is 1) talk to your doctor because you have asthma, and 2) probably just walking at first.

What I did today:

Seated military press: 12 @ 45, 10 @ 50, 8 @ 55, 6 @ 60, 4 @ 65
Assisted chin ups: 5 sets of 10

Decline tricep extensions (not sure if they're called that): 3 sets of 10 @ 22 lbs (empty bar)
Hammer curls: 3 sets of 10 @ 15 lbs

Front, then side raises: 3 sets of 10 @ 5 lbs (yeah, I wish they were heavier too, but 10s are too much)

I'm stoked because my assisted chin ups were less assisted this time. I went from a 50 lb assist to 25 lbs. It was tough but I like seeing the muscles beginning to pop out. It'll be great when I can do them with no assist at all. I'm working on it!

Sound track: 80s metal. Judas Priest is great for workouts.
