Going to take my lazy arse to one of these, both local,so I look at least halfway decent for Jamaica in late January.Plus the wife has been running 5K for the last six months, makin' me feel really bad.I am not a musclehead, and I work rotating 12 hour shifts (6 to 6).What are peoples opinions of these places? They each have opened up within the last six months so the equipment in both should be relatively new.

You might try to post this thread in the forums for where you live. Someone may have actual first hand knowledge of those particular gyms. Or, you can just visit both and try for yourself. Just about every gym offers free trial periods (usually a couple of days to a week) so you can try the gym out for yourself.

I'm an Anytime Fitness member and I chose it because of price and proximity to my house. It was less than a mile away and at that time, they were having some new membership deal (3/09).

The equip was brand new Precor and very clean. It definitely has a smaller gym feel to it.

As for Planet Fitness, I can't comment on that other than what I see from their website that they are cheaper than AF and have free unlimited tanning- that's if your into that.
Either way, you can't go wrong - just get out there and start exercising
