I used to box, and I signed up at a boxing gym. There are two classes of gyms in my city. The boxing gym for the wealthy, and the ones full of ex-cons and thugs. Unfortunately, the was no middle ground, and I couldn't afford the rich gym.

I did a few lessons some years ago, but it was in the shady part of town in the alternative school

Yea, the gym I went to was a dump, but there was not a lot of choices in my area. I only did that for a year. Then I switched to Muay Thai, which I really liked.
So, maybe you could look into that. I think the training was much more intense, and it was more fun for me.
Otherwise, just google boxing gyms in your city, and check out the prices, as well as the other people in the gym.
Does anyone here do amateur boxing for fitness? if so, where is a good place to look for lessons?
Yeah--I box a little.
And I pray for the day I walk into my gym and see you in the ring, looking for a sparring partner!
