I don't know how to answer that question while sounding proper. Perhaps I will figure out something later.
Dude, you can't even explain your own question?! The term "most serious" is obviously ambiguous, and you need to define exactly what you're looking for.
Shaolin martial artists and/or old Shaw Brothers kung fu guys (especially the Hung Gar folks) were/are some of the most serious/bada$$ athletes as well:
Guess I shouldn't make threads in the exercise forum if I have to explain words like serious.
Everyone knows the definition of "serious", but you probably should have been a bit more descriptive as to exactly what you were asking for in this thread. All athletes who do what you describe are "serious" about what they do. I mean, its like starting a thread asking:
"The most serious bugs are?"
"The most serious brand of cereal is?"
Without going all on a rant and attacking you, I just assumed that you meant "badass" and I responded appropriately by posting the most bada$$ of the sports world bada$$es here. Your thread title definitely is not enough to go on.

I'm thinking that the most serious athletes are gymnasts. They literally forego everything else and they are arguably the best all-around athletes as well.
