I've been power walking for 30-40 minutes every day for the past two weeks with some great results (trying to lose 10 lbs). I'm up in Wisconsin and we are currently being hit with a big snow storm, so walks will be out the next few days and I don't want to lose my momentum. I don't have a treadmill or any cardio machines. I have three flights of stairs in my house, but I can only handle ten minutes up and down the stairs before I'm spent. I should have bought snowshoes. I've heard that snowshoeing is a good workout. Anyway... Does anyone have any good suggestions? What should I do?
I know it is too late for you now, but I highly recommend investing in a pair of snowshoes. I've used mine every day for the past 3 weeks here in CO. We've had a consistent snow pack. It is great exercise.
For now, can you drive to a mall and do 'laps' there? Just leave your wallet at home!
I would stick with what is showing you its a challenge. Stairs! And since you live in a area with weather I would look into getting some home cardio equipment or an xbox kinect. I personally find the games to be more engaging than videos. Plus you can use your xbox for other stuff if you have a tech savy person there. I can play streaming workouts and files saved from the master house PC. Netflix also can be streamed through it if you just wanted a cardio on a bike day in front of the tv or one of their streaming workouts. You can play music streaming through it too so it has you covered on dancing. Just make a playlist on the master PC and get down to it.
