Why not do both if you like both activities? That way you can mix up your routine and not get bored doing the same thing. If you are just focusing on max calories burned chances are you are going to get bored at some point. You can transition your walking to running which will burn a whole lot of calories. Add some strength training and you have a complete workout with diversity and challenges.
People who are in a hurry lose lose weight usually fail. Slow and steady wins the new healthy body.
I don't like walking for exercise, but I do like to walk to get to where I need to go. Since this is the case, I find it much easier to get an intense workout on an elliptical -- personally I like to do intervals when I am on the elliptical, to keep it interesting and intense.
It takes time, but it gets easier with practice!
I'll have to strongly agree with you. I'm in the gym 4 days out of the week and 45 - 60 minutes on the elliptical is part of my "routine". I like the intervals as well and make sure I bring some great music to listen to.
I vouch for the eliptical. Unless you are power walking, the eliptical adds resistance to your arms as well. I use the eliptical 5 days a week. On lifting days I do only 30 min, non lifting days an hr. Just do not be like a lot of people I see and leave it on default setting. The default setting only lets you fool yourself into thinking you are getting much out of it. Use the random setting or one of the other settings that adds variety and be ready for some fun.
I just really wanna know what burns more fat/calories. My fast walks or the elliptical.
If you really go after it on an elliptical, I would guess that to burn as many calories, your walk would have to turn into a run.
