When looking at a guy or girl in regular clothes (not at the gym), what body part (or muscle group) do you think makes it very obvious that this person works out a lot?

For me, on a guy, it's the traps. People come in a variety of shapes and sizes (and therefore start their training from different base conditions), some have naturally big legs, or shoulders, or arms, or chests, so I don't think size is a good indicator necessarily. But I've never seen anyone have developed/defined trap muscles (the kind that clearly separate themselves from the neck on one side and the deltoids on the other), who didn't work out to get them. Meaning, I highly doubt you could liesurely go through life not working out (yet still being active in basic stuff like weekend sports or jogging), and still have defined traps.

What are your thoughts on this?

I'm not too sure which one it would be on women though. Perhaps shoulders in general, the shape of a girl's shoulders which can be seen when wearing regular clothes (fit girl shoulders that are slightly broad vs. skinny fat girl shoulders).

For guys I agree it's the traps, even though it is probably the easiest muscle group to grow to get the look.

For girls, I would probably say either thighs/butt or upper arms. These are probably the hardest to get to defy gravity, so if you see it hugged up tight, you know they are putting in some work.

Guys - Traps and vascular forearms.
Girls - Waist and upper arms.

As I guy I would say we who work out alot just have that overall 'look'.

Girls - Im going to have to go with her shoulders. Any girl with visibly defined shoulders pumps iron hard and heavy.

I dont look at dudes so I cant help you there. But with women, it really depends on the clothes they are wearing. Its almost impossible to tell if they are all covered up, but if they are wearing something that is form fitting where you can see their body, then its very easy to tell if they are into their health/fitness.

A good indicator (if they are all covered up) is how they move. Usually, women who are into their health/fitness move with a bit more energy. Its not that they move faster, they just move differently, like there is more energy to their movements. Hard to describe, but easy to see.

Now, if they are wearing something revealing or say we are on the beach and they are in bikinis, the women who have the flattest/toned stomachs, that defined muscle line on the sides (inside and outside) of their thighs and defined shoulder/upper arms usually says she works out.

Delts and tris on a woman for sure.

Good posture with both genders, fit people tend to have way better posture than those who are out of shape.
