This crossfit stuff looks awesome, although I'm a little bit confused. Is this something that you look up and then do at your house or is there actually a place to do it?
Burgler, to answer your question - either. There are tons of CrossFit style workouts you can do at home with little/no equipment. If you're interested I would suggest going to a CrossFit gym to learn the basics of the movements used (at the very least).

Yeah, so is it a lot of cardio stuff too? It looked almost like football practice or what we did in our hell week back in high school. Crossfit seems like something that'd work out great while doing lifting on the side.

You can Google or YouTube most of the movements if you don't know what they are.
Watch some videos like this and you can see the benefits of Olympic lifting for full-body conditioning. There's a challenging combination of coordination involving movements of the entire body, power, and flexibility needed to do this successfully. Those guys are serious athletes.
This is my favorite lifter. Olympic lifters are the strongest and leanest (in the lightweight classes)... with the most explosion and speed. On average, Olympic lifters have a higher vertical than basketball players..

Crossfit's goal is for you to be a good all around athlete, but the master of none. If this makes sense. You do a little of everything on your path to "fitness."
With the goal being, you are good enough to be a little dangerous at most endeavors.
