Wow thats great! I just started maybe 4 months ago. I'm 23. I have a few goals I would like to hit before the end of the year and I definitely know I'll surpass them. I never thought I would like lifting as much as I do!

Yup. It also combats the natural atrophy of your musculature as you get older. I think I've read that you lose about 15% of your muscle tissue per decade past the age of 35 or something like that, if you don't do anything to counteract it. It's easy to see when you look at the arms and legs of elderly people.
Sadly, the "muscles of youth" of the back, rear end, and legs are often the most neglected, even by people that lift weights routinely.

This. It never ceases to amaze me how many dudes I see with huge upper bodies but tiny, matchstick legs.
Granted, I am genetically or based on my past athletic history of being into soccer predisposed to having skinny legs, but damn do I love squats and deadlifts!
I agree...I can squat and press, etc, all day...I used to run 6 miles a day, now I hardly run at all...my legs just always look the same!!!!! And I cannot build calves!

I am a leg woman. A man can have a toned upper body, but the muscular legs are what get my attention.
