What does your gym bag consist of? For me it depends on the day of the week and time of the day, it usually consists of a change of clothes if I workout in the morning which is most of the time or if I am going out after working out, my personal hygiene items, lifting straps, a lifting belt , chalk, some barbell safety clips because my gym lacks a decent amount for some reason, a combination lock, swimming goggles and a towel if I am planning on showering there. I usually don"t carry supplements with me because I take them at home or at work when I get there.

A towel
My swimsuit
Sample-size showering stuff
Change of clothes if I'm going somewhere other than home after
My keyfob barcode thingy I scan to get in (gets too beat up if kept on my keychain, so it stays in gym bag)
A lock that I rarely use
water bottle
yoga mat if I'm going to a yoga class (straps onto bag)
shoes if it's winter, for changing out of my boots

I do not have a gym bag, but I live a five minute walk from my gym, the only thing I bring is myself.

Recently I've started using a wicking headband to keep the sweat out of my eyes. Sometimes on the treadmill I've had to stop running when I didn't want to because of sweat in my eyes. The headband does seem to help a lot.

Another thing I always have in my bag is a calculator, mainly to convert mph to min/mile, but also to project race times from workout results.

  • change of clothes
  • at least 2 ponytail holders in case one breaks
  • notebook & pen to log my workouts
  • my lifting straps if I'll need them
  • stopwatch if I'll need to time an exercise, like holding a plank for x seconds
  • bottle with post workout drink (or I'll leave it in my car, depending on the outside temperature)
