Many people dog on body builders and being dumb and lacking in other parts of life so they try to make up for it in the gym. I have found that many true body builders are very intelligent. They have experimented to find out what works best for their body with hormones, exercise routines and various other items. Most body builders are extremely knowledgeable in anatomy and some muscle physiology.

As ST stated, true body building is almost a cult like phenomenon. It does consume every aspect of your life. I applaud those with the dedication to stick it out and compete. I was in the process of cutting to compete in my first Men's Masters Physique when I re-injured my back. That has knocked me out of the contest this year, but I will do it again next year. The rigorous diet and training is definitely not for everyone.
I understand it isn't for everyone, but that has nothing to do with whether or not the average person can handle the lifestyle. I respect the dedication it requires but I would never want to devote my life to such a thing since its not for me. But to make such assumptions that I could never do such a thing is joke. I never want to look like a bodybuilder and I enjoy my drinking and social hours.

Something I forgot to add to my post. Bodybuilding is NOT about being healthy. As a bodybuilder you give health the middle finger, live in the moment and do what it takes.

Also, you cannot be a bodybuilder and a bar-fly. Alcohol destroys muscle tissue, drinking must be kept to an absolute minimum! I know some bodybuilders that have one drink a year, some haven't had a drink in a couple years, me personally I've had no more than 5 drinks so far this year.
I will readily admit that I don't have what it takes to be a bodybuilder. I exercise to improve my health and fitness levels. I also exercise to help with moderate depression. I'm not trying to achieve a certain "look".

Exercise is my drug so it there is no way I would spend hundreds of dollars a month on supplements and hormones. For me it would be a complete waste of money. I also wouldn't want to deal with the side effects of some of those hormones.

So you can think whatever you want about me and other people who don't bodybuild. I certainly have my opinions about bodybuilders, some of which you seem to be validating BTW.

False. A lot of committed individuals have one it takes. Physically however, when other body builders are out taking certain substances they have an advantage..

He didn't criticize you for not being a body builder. Instead, you seem to be wrongly implying what he's trying to communicate.

I'm sure he and every other body builder does not care if you don't want to spend money on hormones and supplements.

I used to love the sport until I saw the amount of cheating. Seeing Mr Olympia vs Mr Natural is like comparing night and day. Mr Olympia types and competitors are cheats. Drugs provide that unfair advantage. Matter of fact, as I type this response, I am still sore from Tuesday morning's session while my cheating counterparts are not sore and ready to lift again. To be a real body builder, proper food and rest are the only options.

I admire the hard work and dedication that bodybuilders have. Their training and diet are the extremely rigorous, and the rewards for it are so little. I used to do a bodybuilding routine before I got into boxing.

That said, I was taken by shock at just how prevalent drug use is in the fitness industry. I always knew that bodybuilders, both men and women, would often take "gear" in professional bodybuilding competitions, but I had no idea that it was as prevalent as it is in figure competitions, physique competitions and even bikini divisions. I wish this wasn't the case. I wish that anyone who had the training and diet could step on a stage and be competitive, or be shot for a fitness magazine or website, but that's rarely the case. We could argue forever as to the legality of anabolic steroids and what their legitimate side effects are, and yes, the people who do use also train extremely hard and aren't lazy, but someone who is interested in that fitness lifestyle should not feel "forced" to use in order to get by.

Not everyone wants to be in a gym every day, eat healthy, and not drink. Not everyone wants to "feel the burn". If you want "Live" your life being a bodybuilder then so be it, but not everyone considers that to be "living". If you check out the transformations page you will notice that I am not little by any means and am working on getting cut. You sir, are a moron who gives body builders a bad rap.

ChiGuy, as far as my "small package," I'm 8 inches so put that in your pipe and smoke it!
