Ugh, it isn't unnecessary. It's ugly and unhealthy, a combination of both bads. Freaking eat something, it's not that hard, most of us have trouble not eating stuff.
Bodybuilders it's only a problem if they get super big and risk their health, using juice.
I've thought about men's bodies from time time to time... errr, that is, I've contemplated as to what specifically I tend to appreciate. I guess I like a guy to be more athletic-looking rather than looking like a bodybuilder, well-conditioned as opposed to purely muscular. I wouldn't want a guy to hold me in his arms only to find that because of his massive pecs, I'm 18 inches from his face.
I kind of agree with another poster in that the guy should not do an excessive amount of sacrificing just for the sake of his body image. If he passes up even a small plate of my lasagna because he doesn't want the carbs, then that's going too far.

Well, there's one reason some body builders turn me off. Some of them tend to be overly concerned about how they and other people look and rip on others who aren't perfect a lot.

whats that phrase again? Speak for yourself. I'd rather have super skinny than chunky.
Professional body builders have to look like that to further their careers and win competitions. When they retire they'll have to lose all those muscles, it will be quite difficult not to let it turn to fat. It's not for dating asthetics.
One professional sport that has people with bodies that are attractive to women is swimming. If anyone watched the summer Olympics this year and saw Lochte and Phelps, they've seen the kind of trim, yet muscular and tall body alot of women like.

I've wonder about the bolded, wouldn't you admire a guy who is disciplined in how he eats and takes care of himself?

be careful saying that, you'll get a bunch of women saying they don't care for that look.
I just asked my wife what she thought of 'Muscle Marys'. She frowned and said "urgh, no thanks".
Hope that helps.
