Degenerative disc disease can't be fixed through chiropractic. Period. It just plain can't. They call it "degenerative" for a reason. It gets worse, it doesn't get better, and no chiropractor is going to change that.
I've had degenerative disc disease in my lower spine for 20 years. I have -delayed- a worsening of it, through exercise. I also have osteopenia in my right hip and my lower spine. The pain goes completely away when I maintain a regular exercise routine (meaning, minimum of 2 days per week of serious cardio/strength training, such as an hour of HIIT, or 90 minute LifeCycle followed by a strength machine circuit). I get pain in my *muscles* after those workouts - but that's because I've just worked out, so of course I'm going to be sore. But there's no pain in my spine, at all, and I can walk without limping from the pain in my hip again.
My muscles are what holds me up. If I had to rely on my spine, and had no muscular strength in my abdomen and lower back, I'd be in a wheelchair by now. The disc between my L5/S1 is shot. It's almost completely disintegrated. Thanks to exercise, I can still do a cartwheel. I'm 51 years old.
I'm more concerned about this mysterious bone growth you mentioned. I think you should be too.

As for the bone growth, I wonder if this could be a Bone Spur or type of arthritis? It really sounds like the OP needs to seek out a different medical opinion.
