I didn't watch the whole thing but saw enough to say, that's terrible form for anyone with a herniated disc or who've had any type of back surgery!!! THAT will not heal the back of anyone with pathology!!

This is one of the Pilates masters showing you how it's done, and how it's not done

Ellie Herman Demonstrates PIlates Bridge - YouTube
The Pilates bridge is actually a "short" bridge.

That is a good rehabilitation excercise, but if your back begins to recover, you can move on to more difficult excercises that will further strengthen your spine.

What bridging does, is it strengthens the muscles around your spine to prevent further injury and to make your entire body stronger and more explosive because your spine is involved in practically every movement you make.

If you do bridge holds on a regular basis, your body will squeeze out synovial fluid which will nourish your spine.

I'm not sure what you saw that was bad about the man's form. Honestly, I think he has extraordinary flexibility, especially for a man.

I will say, I wouldn't have someone ever stand on my back.
