I know that the current fad is all of the Beachbody workouts. But I still do an old workout that is highly effective.
I do STEP.
Step was all the rage in the late 80s into the 90s. I'm thankful that there are a few good exercise experts that still do step. My favorite is Cathe Friedrich. I also do some of the old step videos from Jane Fonda, Gilad, and Gin Miller (Step Reebok rocks).
If you need a good cardio workout while also working the lower body, look into doing step. You can find a lot of free videos on Youtube or at your local library.
The stepper is a great alternative. In one hour workout, I super set 2 weight lifting exercises with 1 minute of stepping. I continue this format but mixing the lifting exercises. I peak at 140 BPM and I could easily reach 160. Obviously, I agree its a good exercise, but I only use it once a week.

Are there any other steppers out there?
I went to a class last year that was half kickboxing (heavily choreographed with dance music) and the second half was step (also heavily choreographed with music) It was SO MUCH fun! But I never really was good at the step part!

I wasn't referring to the step machine. I'm talking about the step that's on the floor. Like this:

I don't know anyone who does beach body.....hmmmmm I thought crossFit was the current cat's meow.
I did step when it popular, but I've found other things that I enjoy MUCH more these days, like strength & conditioning exercise.
yes i know. when mixed in with weight lifting exercises, the stepper is a nice exercise.
agreed, that would be much more effective with the addition of some dumb bells or kettle bells!! And I do not mean 2 lb dumbbells. I can also see stacking up some of the stepped platforms and doing "box" jumps.
That looks fun! How long to learn all those moves?
