You don't want your shoes to be too new, you need to break them in. I had similar issues, and bought a pair of shoes that had double cushion and support and it made a huge difference! The first time I ran in them I felt like I was on clouds.

as a marathon /ultra runner myself, I would never recc. changing style of running so late in the game. Its like starting from scratch. If not, you would seriously potentially injure youself.

Two problem comes to mind. Sneakers and/or your training.

1. Try sneakers that works for you. Trail & error. By the upper miles, all the issues that was annoying may become crippling at the end.

2. training....you may need to learn have a better form. Rotate muscles efficiently. Build strong core muscles to run strong. Not all of my training is just running....believe it or not, 50% of my races (running & triathlon) training is in the weight room and doing other leg related sports.
