It all depends on how you want to tone your body. You need to make up your mind first and then follow a strict routine for it. Diet does not always mean avoiding food. You can eat any kinds of food but in a limit. Find out what kinds of food will be more helpful and increase the intake of such foods. Exercise is surely important to keep one fit and fine. If you want to exercise for toning your body, try getting trained for some exercises that are meant for training and continue them regularly. Toning exercises can be done using exercise bands, free weights or even simple yoga would help.

I've been into simplifying everything lately. Eat real food, walk, squat more and pick a good set of parents.

I didn't have to read much further. This is about the best advice you can get in one post.

squats, deadlifts, pull ups, chin ups, kettlebell work.

nail your macronutrients numbers consistently for a period of time, most likely need to lose body fat so you need to be in an energy deficit. Calculate your BML then go 20% under it on rest days, 10% over it on workout days. Take a diet break every 6-12 weeks to reset your hormones/metabolism. Once your at the desired leanness, slowly up your energy intake on all days while continuing to work out. Known as a slow bulk. Do that for a year or so, depending on where your starting from, then maintain for life.
