I recently bought myself the p90x deluxe but don't have any dumbell weights. I heard you can use the resistant bands but should I still get myself some dumbells and if so, how big should the weights be?

Thank you in advance.

DOnt know about the deluxe edition as I have the regular and they say you can use bands just as well.
If y ou go with weights you need to have a whole lot of them.

If you are comfortable with bands they could work. They do demo how to use them in the videos. I think a lot of the weight exercises may be less cumbersome with a dumbbell though.

You'll need a variety our adjustable. Certain moves are tough with little weight, some are more standard where you can go heavier. Plus as you go through the program you'll graduate to larger weights

I only use ab ripper X right now, however in the past I did use p90x and had absolutely no problems doing it without dumbells or bands. I was in great shape and those exercises still killed me.

You'll enjoy it more with drum bells, but they're not required.

Just quickly go through the video to see the exercises before you start.

I personally recommend insanity by Shaun T.

I did look through the videos and three of work out people used dumbbells but one man used the stretchy bands. So I guess they'll work.

I received my package yesterday, put everything together but am having the hardest time putting up the chin up bar above the doorway. I watched a video on how to put it up and they make it look so easy but it's not. I drilled the holes in the wall above the doorway with the 1/4 drill bit and then put the plastic things in but the screws aren't staying put. They keep coming out.

I'm getting frustrated and am considering retuning it and just joining a gym.

I found these to be really good quality bands:
Gorilla Strength Resistance Bands

But I'm guessing you already have bands now.
Stick with P90X for the 90 days. The good thing about programs like these is that they keep your cardio going, where you might want to take a longer break at the gym.
You'll get results.

I bought a Power Gym chin up bar from Walgreens. Easy to put together, easy to put in a doorway, easy to take down and cheap.

I used dumbbells for P90X. I had three different weights (25 lbs, 15 lbs, 7 lbs). Don't think resistance bands would've been as effective.
