I should have clarified myself a little better....Perhaps we can start over. Mondays tend to and "off day" for me in the gym. I was curious if others experienced the same thing, and if so, what day is it? Have you been able to identify circumstances that could be contributing to that day being an off day?
Monday's were off days for me as it is the longest, most stressful day of my work week. As a result, I realized that scheduling a work out on a Monday resulted in reduced or skipped impacted the rest of my workout week because it felt like an "off" day; therefore, Monday's became a rest day. The good thing is I did not find that the "Monday blues" was shifted to another day in the week.
I plan my workouts (timing/days/activity) in response to what is going on in my life. On the occasion I have an "off" day, I substitute with yoga or just a 5k and plan to double-up a future workout.
I was asking more if others find they have a weekly "off day," not necessarily if Monday was an off day for others. Mondays tend to and "off day" for me in the gym. An "off day" as in a day I don't usually work out? IF so, then that would be saturday or sunday. I'm in the gym M-F, and occasionally on Saturdays. I lift weight 4-5 days /week, and do cardio on the 2 off days, or not....Rest days are good. Pushing oneself too hard, unless you are NFL (or something) frequently results in injury. I'm trying to avoid that.

"Off day" as in a day where you are in the gym doing what you should be doing but you just don't have the energy behind yourself. Not a rest day. Usually Sundays are my rest day and Saturdays tend to be pretty low impact for me me compared to week days, though this is no always the case. This past Monday I did a pullup/pushup workout and then did some shoulder work. It seems to have worked break, so I'll make that my Monday workout at least until my knee surgery in a couple weeks. Once I am able to resume weight training I'll reassess and go from there.

OOOOHH, that type of OFF day. Heck yea, all the time. For the most part, I push through it, mind over matter & do the next indicated step. It's great when I can do that. It was on an OFF day that I injured my shoulder 2 months ago. I've finally learned, I think, to back off & listen to my body. It can be tough discerning the difference though. Especially now as I'm trying to acclimate to the heat. Day 1, I could only do 6 minutes on. Jacobs Ladder. Day 2, I increased to 10 minutes. today I did 15 minutes & I actually felt pretty good leaving the gym despite swearing like a pig. a drenched pig. Lol.
The other thing on OFF days or when I'm getting used to a new routine (we change every 6-10 weeks), I do what I can but no worries if I can't do all the sets o exercises. I will eventually get there. I will modify as needed. My goal is to get a solid all around workout not kill myself. I don't feel the need to push myself to the vomit stage to feel like I've met a goal.
Well, two Mondays in a row I've had pretty solid workouts, so maybe I've broken the rut. Today and last week I started with a pull-up/pushup workout before moving inside. I've found this routine combines nicely with my shoulder workouts, and today I combined those with some back/bi work in place of cardio. I think it's going to be a good week ahead!
I am procrastinating going for a run with the dog, Mondays are always the hardest for me but once I start to get going it's fine, it's just getting out.

Well in that case Friday would be that day. I am tired from training three days already and Friday is my last training day of the week and my energy is running out but I still kick butt because I know that I have 3 rest days ahead of me.
Mondays in general are busy since it's the first day of the work week. I never work out Mondays or Fridays because I always work out on Saturday and Sunday, so I don't want to do 3 days in a row.
