I recently moved to Boston for a job. I used to drive everywhere since I lived in a very suburbian area and haven't really been active since graduating from college. Starting to walk everywhere was a big lifestyle change for me, and I'm wondering if it's making my thighs bigger? I haven't changed my diet (if anything, I eat less here because I'm cheap) or anything else since I've moved here. I haven't gained any weight either it seems - the only reason I've noticed that I might be getting bigger is because several of my pants and skirts are getting tighter around my thighs. I walk anywhere between 3-5 miles a day M-F, probably 1.5 miles on the weekends. (I'm kind of cheap and will walk almost anywhere over taking the T...)
I'm only worried about this because I'm living on a tight budget in the city and all my clothes have been custom tailored for me since I'm on the petite side. I can't afford new clothes haha, otherwise I wouldn't care too much.
Could walking this much be making me get bigger, or should I be examining my lifestyle/diet a little more closely? Is there anything I can to stop getting bigger in the thigh area? Thanks!
Moving from the suburbs to the city usually makes girls thighs thinner, but that all depends on what you looked like before the move. If you were super skinny before (i.e. you can wrap your 2 hands around the thick part of your thigh), then it's possible walking 3-5 miles per day will make your thighs more muscular and slightly thicker.
Another thing to note is, if you're young (in your 20's) then it's very likely your body is getting thicker naturally due to a slowing metabolism.

It might all be in my mind, some of my dress clothes are just feeling tighter and more uncomfortable though! I am still fairly skinny (under 100 lbs - haven't gained any weight according to my scale) so it may just be very obvious to me when I get a little bigger somewhere.. and obvious to my clothes.
Also, pretty certain I eat less now - It's only been 6 months since I got out of school where ate fast food/campus food/take out all the time. I eat less now, and it's usually healthier food too. I'll be a little more mindful of what I eat even though I'm not trying to lose weight, or maybe I'll just tough it out with my clothes getting tighter in the thighs... dress clothes aren't really that comfortable to begin with anyway, haha.
To be honest, the pics don't look like the same person. The knees are completely different. The entire leg is much larger and even appears shorter. What's going on here?
