i need to stretch myself so bad as i feel a lot of tightness especially on my hamstrings and calves. which one exercise regimen would be better for such?
Both yoga and pilates are so much more than just "stretching exercises". They are systematic health and wellness forms of living (yoga moreso).
I am a huge proponent and practitioner of yoga (Vinyasa) and swear by its benefits of strengthening the body, aligning the bones, as a path to enlightenment, and of course "stretching".
But it is NOT something you do just to "stretch" but it will help you with your goals. If/when you sign up a yoga studio you'll learn this first hand.
As far as pilates go, if you look into this make sure you go to a studio that has the reformers. Pilates just isn't really Pilates without the reformer.
if that's the case, then what are the best stretching exercises out there?
You should google or youtube search for stretching vids for the areas you want to stretch. Or, check out one of your local yoga studios and sign up. I HIGHLY recommend Vinyasa over all the others because it flows a bit more which is more to my liking.
Stretching is not always the answer. It could be your muscles tight due to a dysfunctional movement pattern or because they are compensating for a weakened muscle. I never quite understood why everyone wanted to stretch the IT Band, a supportive sling, when they really should've been focused on the quads.

Great answer. Tight hamstrings usually aren't; it's because you're in anterior pelvic tilt, meaning your butt sticks out and is turned up at an angle, meaning your hamstrings are tight because they're in a constant state of tension. Stretch them as much as you want, you're merely focusing on a symptom of a problem.
