When I was a teenager, I was a workout addict.
I would literally do 300 sit ups every day, then aerobics, then spot exercises.
I did that routine sometimes twice in 1 day...
My abs were amazing, lol...
Looking back I realize that was my way of blowing off all the intense stress I was contending with...
I still love a sweaty workout

Never really exercised consistently more than 2 hours. Longest ever was a 4.5 mile hike.

Longest time exercising? While thru-hiking the Appalachian trail I once hiked 32 miles, that took about 13 hours. A Grand Canyon rim-to-rim was 23.9 miles in 8.2 hours, the Cactus to Clouds San Jacinto hike above Palm Springs takes me 8 hours.

All of those times are nothing compared to people in truly great shape, the ultra marathoners or the triathletes.

I've done R2R and C2C, those are some pretty decent times, don't sell yourself short. You are still faster than 90% of the people out there. My times on both were fairly similar.

Way back in HS we used to train 3 hours a day.

Hiking or walking is pretty frequent. We are usually gone 1.5-3 hours, depending on location.

I can only run for about an hour before I lose interest/focus.

As a new years day challenge I swam (with others) 108 x 100 yards (total = 10,800 yards) on a 1:45 interval. It took 3 1/4 hours.

Does it have to be voluntary?

I'm sure some veterans could speak to some insanely long "workouts".

I recall a training evolution with a specialized unit that went for more than 1/2 a day before a real break.
