Yes, a couple in our hood have it and honestly, to me it looks kind of funny. Not sure how well of a workout they get from it.
To me, if I want to be on the road, then I get a bicycle, the elliptical is good when you want to avoid the road and do something in a gym.
I have passed by a few people on Ëliptigo machines while I was out bike riding. The people were using the Eliptigo along a bike path along Newport Bay here in Southern Cal. All of my bicycles run quiet, with no clicking or squeaking. The noises from the Eliptigo would drive me totally nuts - they squeak and creak as they go along.
Also, not sure how long one of those things would actually last. One of my road bicycles is 32 years old, and although I've swapped out a lot of parts over the years, that bike is still great. Another of my road bicycles is a dozen years old and I've bike commuted on it almost every work day over that time. Again, extremely reliable.
My road bicycles can carry all kinds of stuff along with me, just by addiing some bags to the rear rack. Eliptigo has nowhere to carry along stuff, so they are basically just recreation machines, not actual transportation vehicles. My guess is that most of them will become clothes hangers in the garage when the novelty wears off.
