The treadmill is actually in the apartment complex that I live in. That's why i asked if a few pounds extra would mean anything.

If the treadmill breaks down, hopefully the apartment complex has it fixed or buys a new one. Are you concerned they are going to charge you for the repair?

It will be fine as long as it is in good repair.

I weighed 240 at my heaviest and was still running 5k/10ks pretty regularly.

OP go for it. The weight limit is taking into account both your weight and the pounding the treadmill takes. If you're a few pounds over and not running at the max speed the treadmill will go, it's going to be fine. Most decent treadmills have a 12 mph top speed, so you're okay. You can't really do interval training on them but they're fine for general exercise as not many people are sustaining 5-minute mile pace.

If you are running anywhere with a lot of extra weight on your body your joints will get beat up.
Good advice.

I was over 230 pounds when I started working out and my doctor said no running OR walking to preserve my knees. She recommended the elliptical or a bike. I also was not allowed to do lunges or squats. I like the elliptical. Nice smooth motion.

I weigh 250 and run 5 to 10k 2 to 3 times a week. About 8 years ago and before a an injury or 2 I was at my fittest and pretty low bodyfat, I was 220-225. When I ran my first Marathon I was at about 230. No knee problems yet and I just turned 49.

I have Ankle problems, I broke 1 in a climbing fall 17 years ago and messed up the other in another fall about 6 years ago. I had another bad sprain about 2 years ago.

Screw the treadmill just go for a run outside. I ran an hour last night in freezing rain and it was fun.

I'm concerned that it will break down and I'll have to actually pay for the gym rather than work out for free like I do now.

Lol at the max amount. I run at 5.5 mph. I'm too out of shape to run at a higher speed.

How did you run a marathon weighing 230 lbs?
