I'm a guy so this may not work for you. I'm 5'6" and weigh 135 (now). The most I have ever weighed is 142 and I had to fight for it. I was eating 3500 calories a day and working out. Lots of chicken, oatmeal, lots of water, and (I know some people will not like this) protein powder, and creatine. It was not easy (all the eating made me feel bloated) and when I got the flu I slowed down and have levelled out at 135.
Before all this I would range from 125-130 but was not in shape (about 15%BF) At 142 I was at 10% BF.
I'm just that small guy, and even when I was 142 people would see me and say "Dude, you are ripped for a little man!" Well, not what any guy wants to hear, but I am who I am. Oh yeah, I'm 53 years old so the weight gain was really hard for me.
I'm saying all this to let you know that you can gain weight, but it may not change your life in any way.
Lift heavy. Starting Strength. (I would recommend a site geared to women lifting heavy; this is mostly for guys but the principles are *exactly* the same.) Unless there is something wrong with you physically, your appetite will increase and the weight gain will come naturally.
