I haven't done any physical activity since 1998. I've actually followed one of those relaxation and massage programs that Wagyu beef cattle do to make their meat tender. $100 says my quads are more tender than yours.
I've worked out 4-7 days a week for 25 years. All sorts of things. I've done cardio, gym weight training, at home DVD's, cycled, run. Currently I just started to train for a sprint triathlon in August, something I have never done before. My daughter signed me up to run with her. I suspect this 55 year old fart will run at her pace, because if I compete at my pace I'll probably beat her by quite a bit. Since this will be my first tri, I more so just want to experience it and not try to compete for time. I can cycle very well, have run a 5k in 21:32, but have never competitively swam.
Tonight I did a Les Mills Combat routine at home. I treadmilled for 30 minutes a couple of days ago, and did spinning the day before that. I will start to run outside a couple of days a week once the snowbanks go a little lower.
I've never gone to the gym for a "run". But I have gone to the gym to run on the treadmills. To me, when someone says they are "going for a run" it doesnt mean they are going on a treadmill. It means they are going outside someone to actually run. This is true with 100% of the people I know who say "Im going for a run". Those who use gym treadmills usually say something like "Im going to hit the treadmill" or "Im heading to the gym to do a few miles on the treadmill". They always specify "treadmill".
I have set foot in a gym in almost 3 years. I do run 3-4 days a week and I have a workout room at home now and will do light weight training there. I want to get into crossfit, so I might look into joining a gym again soon.
Last went to the gym on Saturday - will go again today after work as I do most days.
