I prefer morning before I eat, but generally because of family things that doesn't happen and I end up working out between 11-1 p.m.

I usually go to the gym in the early evening...my sleep is too important for me to get up at 4 to work out I prefer to work out in the company of friends. Otherwise, I don't have the motivation.

Right now it's pretty much in my sleep. But I'm looking to start working out again!

Mid Afternoon around 3PM is my favorite time for a workout in the weight room, however, I'm usually at work until 4:30 so I don't get to the gym until a few minutes before 5PM. On those rare occasions when I hit the gym before noon, I find that I have to use less weight and/or do fewer repetitions with with my usual weights. Weight lifting workouts are always harder to do in the morning ( My body is probably still rebelling, 40 yrs later, against the 5:30AM workouts I carried out during my senior yr in high school ). In the morning I prefer gentle exercise like walking or rebounding. My favorite evening exercise is a walk thru the neighborhood, followed up with a glass of red wine in front of the TV!

Morning is my time to work out - usually between 7am and 9am. I have to get my kids off to school, and then I exercise - get it out of the way.

After that, then I can relax for a bit with my coffee and newspaper!

I actually prefer to exercise in the evening, but find it interferes with dinner time at my house, plus the "I'm here to workout a little and score a lot" types (at my gym) are out in full force in the evening. So, now I head to the gym between 9-10 a.m. after my husband/son are off to work/school, my coffee has kicked in, and the gym has emptied.

I also workout on an empty stomach...others think I'm crazy but I get nauseous if I have eaten...so I can't just workout whenever, it has to be in the morning.

Cool to see so many people have found a time that works best for them and keeps them exercising regularly.

I'm an early bird myself. 5:30am works best for me. Then my boys (husband and son) are usually asleep. Though if my son wakes up early I've gotten good at holding a conversation with him while I'm still doing my aerobics dvd, granted with the volume down a bit. Family first, right? And I do love our conversations, so glad to be a mom...

Then I'm energized all day. I do go to sleep early though (9:30pm - 10:30pm ish) most nights. Love my sleep. Just works good for me, easier to get in consistently.
