As far as your questions with donuts.....isnt much easier not to eat 1 donut than run a few miles to burn it off? 14 miles is enough to burn two donuts, but find it to be silly.
So not true. In my younger years I ate terribly, never gained weight no matter what. I was able to do this into my 30's

That's what my question was based on. Is it really that simple?

This was the guy's only exercise since eating dinner, before the next morning.
By "work it off," are you referring to weight? If so, yes, it comes down to a simple math problem.

If you're referring to health, that's a different story. Donuts likely have trans fat and tons of sugar, which is unhealthy regardless of calories.

Walking, speed walking and running all burn about the same number of calories per mile.

It is true, you just didn't eat enough in your younger years to find out.

I don't buy the hole 14 mile (7-mile) each way line. So many people over-estimate the distance in which they travel. I know people who swear they've driven 10 miles when instead they've only driven 3. I am in great walking shape, and even 14 miles is a stretch for me on flat, even pavement. I know other people who have joined me for casual walks and swore they walked either 6 or 7 miles when instead it was no more than 3 or 4 miles.

That is certainly a nice luxury to have. I eat less and drink less than most of my friends by far and yet they all have flat stomachs and I still have just an ever slight protruding belly. Granted I am a bit stocky and only 5'7 so I am sure my body frame is much more susceptible to weight increases, than someone who is 5'10 and looks like a walking twig.

From what I have read average galzed donut is about 360 calories and it take about little less than a hour on threadmill at fast walk pace to burn the same amount. One reason just walking doesn't do much for weight loss overall; but does for cardio exercise. and good for joints.

It takes about 256 steps to burn the calories off from eating 1 Lindt Chocolate Ball.
I'm fairly certain 14 miles is more than enough to burn off 2 donuts.

Me being me I would probably have 4 donuts and a glass or two of milk just because I could.

Not true, I lost a total of 500 pounds by changing my lifestyle, eating less but not restrictive and walking 2 miles each day.
One mile in the morning and one mile in the evening, no weights, no "cardio", no working out just walking. Not walking fast either, just my normal way I walk walking.

Maybe he really doesn't like donuts. There has got to be better horror novels than this one.

If you ate them before you walked ... Yes. If you walked 14 miles in order to get and eat 2 donuts... Probably not.
