DW & I were strength training today.
When it came time for abs I forced myself to do them and grumbled how I hate abs.
I mentioned that I would prefer to work ANY other muscle group or body part before I do abs.
Wife agreed and said "ditto".
If I do cheat - I cheat abs. Leg day is with ab day for me but I never skip legs ....just skinkin' abs.
Not sure why. Maybe its a whole 'core' thing but I juss-don't-like-it.
Anyway, anyone with me?
Or who hates something else?
It's blasphemy I know, but I don't really like squats. I like what they do for me... but I don't like them. I get so horribly sore and tight .. for days .. every time I squat heavy. I'm into things like cycling and hiking too, so being unable to move doesn't work well for me. I think I've figured out that I do best not doing heavy squats and heavy deads in the same week (assuming I plan to bike or something else as well). So for this week -- I'm planning to do heavy deads on Thursday. So today, instead of heavy squats, I did DB goblet squats. Next week, I'll do heavy squats, and DB Romanian deadlifts instead of heavy deads. And so on. We'll see how that goes.
I also don't like bench press. Because I'm terrible at it. I'm pretty decent at DB bench of all things, but my barbell bench is miserable for a guy my size.
Stuff I like... shoulder work, arm work (I know, I know), deadlifts.
Long bike rides (over 40 mi). Physically, it's not bad, but they're just so long I get bored out of my mind. To get the same amount of exercise running/swimming it would take 1/3 the time.
Burpees Oh, the agony. And they have never gotten easier for me, despite the fact that I work out all the time. But they work every part of your body, which is why they are very difficult for most people to do. Push ups are almost as hard, but that's because of bilateral shoulder surgery I had years ago. I have never improved at those either.
i love big abs but feels like nothing is happening
You are though> if youre working them properly. Never mind getting that elusive ripped six pack but condition them to be strong. A strong core helps keep the entire body balanced, well-supported and safe from other potential injuries from other exercises.
I hate working legs and chest, because these workouts tend to be my longer workouts and they are very intense workouts.
