I've seen a few threads on here over the years where someone makes an excuse about why they aren't fit, and I've seen a few discussions about someone having an illness that makes them fat. I'd like to hear some stories from YOU about what obstacle or disability YOU have and how you still manage to exercise and get fit. We've all heard the celebrity stories and the like, so I'm asking the normal people out there.

Me personally, I have hypothyroidism. My levels are normal, but I'm still pretty tired 2 or 3 days a week. I also have 1 day a week when it seems like my stomach feels awful thanks to some processed food I ate. Last week, I ran 3 miles on 3 days and lifted weights for an hour on 2 days. I take a multivitamin that I believe gives me more energy, and I often have coffee at breakfast and lunch to keep my energy levels up until the evening. I don't eat sugary foods or snack on chips. I eat a lot of protein and try to eat as healthy as possible so I feel great and don't gain weight. It's working for me.

I think that if we get a lot of examples of people fighting through their problems, it might just help someone else to get off the computer and go exercise.

OK, to start with I am a 65 y.o. Type 2 diabetic female. A few years ago I was overweight by 55 pounds or so. In addition to this, I have scoliosis, spinal stenosis, compression/nerve impingement and a few injuries which cause me to have ongoing pain in my muscles, fascia and tendons. I lost the 55 lbs over the past several years by eating healthy food (and much lower carb), I now bicycle almost daily, do some sort of strength training several times per week, and also take several dance classes every week. There really is almost no excuse for anyone not to do some sort of activity! Back when I was weight training at the Y, I would see paraplegics and really old people on oxygen trying to do some sort of workout!

Anyway, that's my story. I feel great, and look better than I have in decades!
