Hey all,
I am interested in getting an altimeter tracker/logger for my ski trips. I'm having trouble finding one, I might be searching in the wrong direction.
I'm looking to track my altitude gain, as well as logging it, so when I go back up the mountain that it all adds up for a total elevation gain.
I have seen altimeter watches, but I don't think they add total elevation gain. I could be wrong.
Any input is appreciated!
Thanks!
Jordan

What about a smart phone with GPS capability? Then get the free app from Strava or Endomondo. Or buy a GPS?

I was going to suggest Strava as well. It's not 100% accurate but is definitely close enough IMO. And it's free. Other than that, I'd go with a GPS device but those can get pretty pricey and the good ones need calibration.

I was a pretty serious cyclist in my day and many of my buds had fancy GPS's that did all sorts of geeky stuff. I never got one, not because of price but mostly because it just seemed so overbearing. I like simplicity, others like all sorts of geeky data. I get both views. Anyway, my point is that when I used Strava on a ride and compared it's data with the Garmin's elevation data, it was very close - only a few feet off.

I vote for Strava - a few feet off in either direction won't hurt and you can't beat the price.

Best of luck.
