It's not fat. He works in a physically active job and uses his arms a lot. Fatty arms look very different from muscle arms.

You don't how big a role genetics play in regards to strength do you? Strength is 70% genes and 30% effort.

I was never much into sports and didn't exercise a lot, so I never had huge muscles at any time in my life. I guess I was just average. Along comes my son and he was about the same. When he went to college he got into power lifting and Jiu Jitsu. Now he's absolutely HUGE. He deadlifts 550 and squats around 375. Legs like tree trunks and huge back and shoulder muscles. It's hard to believe that he inherited any of that from me. LOL

How would you know if you never lifted or exercised yourself?

Genetics is most of it, but you also have to have the drive to build the muscle.
