I will sometimes have the 73% chocolate almonds from Trader joe's. Appx 1 gram of sugar per almond, and dark, slightly sweet, and crunchy. You don't need/want many. It's the only thing I use in the way of dessert, and I try not to eat them too often. I figure I'd rather train myself not to expect sweets.

I have tried the brushing your teeth trick. It used to work on me but I have broken it and sometimes will eat even after I have brushed my teeth. Just wondering what are some ways people curb their sweet tooth? Having a piece of hard candy or small lollipop just popped in my head.

When at home or in town, I eat too much sweets/carbs. It is easy to get everywhere, convenient, and cheap compared with good meat.

Oddly, when I am exercising hard on backcountry trips, I do not miss the sweets. What I want then is more FAT, because lightweight camp food tends to be very low in fat, fairly low in protein, and generally very high in carbs.

So my answer is, "Take a hiking or kayaking or other self-powered trip." I think the long hours of exercise set the body straight on wanting things that are better for it. AND plain but nutritious food tastes wonderful when you have been working hard outdoors in beautiful settings. It's not that I might not enjoy a pastry in the same circumstances, but it is not within reach and I don't crave it. I do crave hamburgers and pizza, though!

Sweets (mainly chocolate) is my only real weakness with food! Main thing is, don't have the sweets you really like in the house. If I brought home a chocolate cheesecake, I could seriously eat the whole thing in 2 days

Some of the "healthy cookies" will cure my sweet tooth after dinner. Or I'll eat one of those soy ice cream sandwiches. Or just buy cheap cookies that I don't like much.

Otherwise, I eat healthy, lots of fruit and vegetables, very little meat (no red meat) and weigh what I should. I also don't drink sweet drinks - just water (and black coffee in the morning), which probably allows me to spend a few calories on sweets in the evenings.

This is NOT healthy. Humans need red meat (in small amounts). Its why we crawled out of the swamp in the first place.

Lol! I haven't eaten beef in over 25 years. I guess I'm dead?

First of all, my body doesn't process it. That's why I stopped eating it when I was around 19. I don't personally find diarrhea to be worth eating a steak. And second, I truly don't care much for meat period.

I know people who've been complete vegetarians for years, and they're fine. I eat nuts, greek yogurt, fish, beans, plenty of things with protein, so I get what I need. I have plenty of energy, plenty of muscle mass, and awesome blood pressure and cholesterol.

You sound like my fat friend who's on blood pressure medication who likes to lecture me about my diet lol! Or tell me I need to eat more meat. I assume she's trying to justify her own horrible diet

21 day rule apply? Go 21 days without consuming and you are cured of the habit.

I went six months without sweets and soda, so it's doable. Only problem is, for me, that one taste is enough to hook me.

I usually pick up a couple extra hamburgers when I drive through McDs. I take the beef patties out of the buns, and throw the buns in the trash bin. Then I keep the beef in my left jacket pocket throughout the day (I have a ziplock in there already, I don't just put the beef right in the pocket lol).

When I get the munchies I reach for my beef instead of binging on Kit Kats or Gummi Worms. Keeps the sweet tooth at bay and gives me a valuable protein boost.
