Also PF here. $10/mo is hard to beat. Yes they don't have any real barbells, just 4 Smith Machines and yes mine gets crowded during prime time ...but $10 is hard to beat. I used to belong to 24 hr fitness and some other chain gyms and paid $40/50 month to deal with all of the same annoyances
And my gym has what none of your home gyms has.....plenty of beautiful women in short skirts and VERY tight compression gear. Sometimes barely anything at all.
L.A. Fitness baby....it is what it is !
You're obviously not familiar with the world of Crossfit. $330/mo for 2 people is pretty cheap compared to where I live in LA
What makes Crossfit worth more than a regular type gym? What does it have that your local Anytime Fitness or Planet Fitness doesn't have? My niece went to a Crossfit gym for about a year and she seemed to get heavier and not in a good way.

It has small classes with trainers/instructors. So you are basically paying for personal training on top of gym fees. But yes, I think 95% of Crossfit "Boxes" are a joke and even worse dangerous. Many of them are opened and staffed by people that have no right training other people and they have everyone doing the same work outs regardless of skill level and conditioning which leads to a lot of injuries
I tried to join a gym, kind of a Crossfit Lite. It was $108 per month with instructor led workouts. It reminded me too much of being in the Marines and I guess I don't like following along to other peoples instructions on exercising.
I've found what works for me is to run or ride my bike. No gym...I just head out the front door. I don't ride in the snow but I certainly run all year round. That way I never allow my self any leeway. All I have to do is put on shoes and warm clothes and open the door. There's the gym, no excuses.
Crossfit is a cult. LOL. Well, almost. Its great for people who do not have a lot of time, do not mind doing insane amounts of the same move, do not care about injury, and like being yelled at. Its also great for super competitive people. They can brag if they killed the WOD.
That said a good friend of mine loves Crossfit and more power to her. I prefer my gym because I can swim, do spin classes, lift, or anything I am in the mood for doing, and I pay half of a cross fit fee.
