Is this a thing? I like the Latin dance influence on aerobics, but there's entirely too much "ash"-shaking going on in these classes for my taste. Maybe because I don't have much of one (jealous?). I'm talking quite long periods where it's just turn this way and twerk, turn around and twerk, then swivel your hips, and then shake your booty some more with feet planted. Is this "aerobic" exercise???

I dont know what you are talking about - there has never been anything like that in any of my Zumba classes. They do a few belly dance moves (swivel/shimmy) but never "twerking" do you actually know what that is?
So every Zumba class spends 20 out of 50 minutes twerking to ear-blasting rap music? Okay; just checking!
Zumba classes are Latin dances. Some classes use other music, but the majority of classes are latin based. We do the Merengue, The Cha Cha, The Tango, Salsa, Bachata, Samba... I have never been in a class where people are twerking to rap music.
I would just take a different Zumba class where they focus on the Latin style of dance or a different class alltogether. So tired of the twerking fad.... but whatever. Many people obviously enjoy it.
They enjoy gazing at their sexy selves in the mirror (and on You Tube)... Bunch of narcissists! Twerking hurts my back, personally...
