I used to read Ironman but when Balik sold it a decade ago I quit. I read MD til Gregg Valentino left. I loved Nat. BB & Fitness til that folded. Now it all sux.

Anyone read Power mag or at least, MD anymore? I really think after the 90's it all went downhill. SInce Dorian quit -- it never was the same for me. Anyone care to comment?

Yeah, Iron Man magazine was the best in the 80s, when I started reading it. It was still mainly black & white back then, except for the cover and a few pages. It even had the staples in the center of it. A true hard core bodybuilding magazine, no blonde busty bimbo on the cover, no crazy 80 sets arm routines of the stars. Just real common sense articles about basic training principals, nutrition and even some powerlifting info.

It also had each article in its entirety, in order. Unlike FLEX, which had the beginning of a new article every 2 pages. Then you had to go all the way to the back of the magazine to finish all the articles. Everything was front loaded. So aggravating.

I suppose the beginning of the end was in the early 90s. It went all color, and then sold out by putting the hot girl on cover frequently, something they resisted to for many years. Then it just became another FLEX/M&F magazine. It still had the nice photography, but the articles became geared for the mainstream, not the true hard core BB.

When I was a kid I used to read the old school mags my older brother had laying around. This was during the Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman years. I also remember spending some "quality time" reading about Rachel McLish and even Cory Everson. Those were the days.

In the mid-late 80s, it was all Rich Gaspari, Lee Labrada, Mike Christian, and of course Lee Haney. Back then, the top Olympia bodybuilders all had tiny waists. None of the bloated abs you see nowadays.

Almost bought the Nov. Flex & MD mags today -- but saved my $. The Power mag new one for Nov/Dec (bi-monthly I think it is) looks real good too & much more my speed. More natural stuff & plain workout hardcore, w/ no frills lifting.

Still waiting til Dec. issues. I'm toyingw/ subscribing again but tryin to save $, & w/ advent of youtube & online mags vs the early 90s -- no internet & only paper copies of mags -- it seems prudent to hold on & just read monthly online. Plenty of info w/out the ads, ha, thus a savings of $ & time if you ask me. But anyone care to comment on their thoughts?

1994 called, it wants its magazines back.

But seriously, we already know the "ten secret tips to ripped abs" or whatever that they publish in every issue.
