I find these stories of people cutting locks off of lockers to get credit cards alarming! I've never heard of that before. I have a small purse I used to take into the gym, and set it on the floor in the room I work out in. I stopped doing that awhile ago, though, just for good measure. I drop it in the trunk of the car before I go in, now. From these stories, I'm getting the message that that's a very good idea, and I should keep doing it.
Curious -have you ever had anything stolen at the gym?
Our gym has lots of signs posted about locker theft. I follow basic*smarts* (don't bring valuables, don't use the same locker, and often I just take my wallet(small purse about the size of a credit card) with me.
I've never had anything stolen at the gym and other than all the signs and warnings posted, I've never heard of anyone having things stolen.
In all my many years of going to the gym, I have NEVER had anything stolen out of my locker. No one I know personally has had anything stolen either.
All those signs you see are required for both insurance purposes and at the request of corp. lawyers to absolve the gym from any responsibility of lost/stolen items. They are not posted because of problems with theft.
No, but I don't put anything of value in my locker anyway so it wouldn't matter if somebody broke into it. My wallet stays in the glove compartment in my car, if I take it with me at all. The key is always in my pockets or depending on the excercise I do somewhere right next to me where I can see it at all times.
