And it's true that you can't spot reduce. But despite the title of the video, the video itself is not saying that you can spot reduce. It's saying only that planks boost your metabolism so that you burn fat more effectively.
I think that applies to all exercise.

Fat lies on top of muscle. If you "tighten" your muscles, that will pull in your fat, but your fat is still there (until it's burned off or removed surgically). Hence, planks or the old-fashion forerunner of them, sit-ups, have no effect on "belly fat" and never did.
Oh for crying out loud. Why don't you people actually listen to the video. It is not promoting spot reduction. It's not even primarily about losing fat. The video mentions six different reasons why planks are a good exercise. The fact that planks stimulate the metabolism and help to burn fat is only one of the reasons given.

We understand that planks are a great exercise. No one is disputing that. YOU are the one that is implying if you do planks you will reduce belly fat and that is patently untrue.
As far as raising one's metabolism doing planks is not going to raise it much if at all.
Planks do not rid the body of belly fat, but I do think they give a slimmer appearance by tightening your core.
I do planks and push ups daily. Great for the back. I used to have a lot of back pain from a car accident and planks, push ups, and lots of walking seem to help a lot.

No, I did not imply that planks will spot reduce fat. In fact, I really said nothing at all except, ''That's the title of the video below. Perhaps not daily necessarily, but there are good reasons to plank.''
I simply used the title of the video in the title of the thread. I've explained that the video is not promoting spot reduction of fat. But yes, planks, as will any exercise done with sufficent intensity raise the metabolism.
- Planks are great exercises to increase core strength and ab muscles
- If you have belly fat and you think planks (or any ab exercise) is going to be your ticket to a six-pack, you are in for much disappointment. The bottom line is until your body fat percentage drops to a number that corresponds with when your abs are going to show (varies a bit based on genetics), then your abs are just not going to show.
But that doesn't mean planks are worthless. They are a good exercise.

Don't tell me, let me guess. You didn't actually watch the video. Despite the title of the video, it is not promoting the idea that you can spot reduce. And neither am I.
