My grandson had a wrist band that was a little pouch - held his key, some money.
Don't dedicated runners have catalogs that cater to such needs? If not, it's certainly something that you could invent and manufacture and there's your side hustle!
Key fob, wallet, cell phone stay in the car. There's some risk there but they're pretty well hidden so the quick smash and go through the obvious aren't going to turn them up. Race belt or on a shoe lace are other common spots.
Running an event? Where do you put your keys during the race?
A. Leave 'em in the car and hope for the best.
B. Run with the keys in your hand or pocket/fanny pack.
C. Have a friend or family member hold 'em for you (but what if you're alone?).
D. The race organizers have some place you can leave 'em.
Ran a 1/2 marathon this weekend and (as I always do) I stringed my remote door lock / car key combo into my shoe laces. I untie the left shoe’s laces, string the keychain hole of the key through the end of one lace, enmesh the lower end of the key (the metal “key”end) down into the bottom laces of the shoe and then tie the laces up tight. Can’t feel it while running g and it’s nice and secure. That way I don’t have to carry anything but a hand held water bottle first few miles Til it’s gone and drink at water stops from there.
I had this problem yesterday on a group run (well- jog for the more running inclined, but a run for me.) A couple of pairs of my shorts have either a little inner pocket or the pocket along the rear waistband with zipper that are great for holding a key, ID and possibly credit card. I had simply grabbed a pair of shorts without. A lot of the running and hiking brands have that as standard now.
I don't run with a phone to play music but I imagine most to the arm bands to hold those should also have a pouch for keys.
Put them in your pocket and run or go to a hardware store and buy a wrist key holder.
