The only pre-cut fruit that I buy is pineapple, as it's one fruit that I enjoy but a lot of work cutting one. Otherwise, I try to avoid pre-cut fruit. I didn't think about food poisoning issue, but just the excess use of plastic.
I eat a lot of fruit. I usually have 1 or 2 bananas a day, sometimes an apple with peanut butter for lunch, and then sometimes have fruit for dessert-either those small oranges or grapes or cantaloupe or pineapple. When we are in Puerto Rico, we get papaya, guanabana (soursop)-which is OUTSTANDING, avocado, and of course, pineapple. (Puerto Rican pineapple is to DIE for-much better than Hawaiian pineapple.)
Well, there are such people as fruitarians. I've never met one; I think vegans are odd enough.
I suspect safety and nutrition may be more about the types of fruit one eats and the of quantities of each . EG Pineapple vs banana vs apple vs orange vs kiwi fruit vs mango.
A dietician might be a good place to start. A dietician at the local hospital helped me with a life style diet when I was first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
"Fruitarianism (/fruːˈtɛəriənɪzəm/) is a subset of dietary veganism that consists entirely or primarily of fruits in the botanical sense, and possibly nuts and seeds, but without animal products. A fruitarian diet attracts criticisms and health concerns for those that follow the lifestyle.
Fruitarianism may be adopted for different reasons, including ethical, religious, environmental, cultural, economic, and health. There are several varieties of the diet. Some people with a diet consisting of 75% or more fruit consider themselves fruitarians.[1]"
I've been eating a lot of these fruit salads. Today I had 1 regular sized fruit salad and 1 big sized fruit salad. I'm trying to get shredded/cut abs. Is it ok to eat fruit salad like this? I wonder due to the sugar content in the fruit.
unless you are already super lean, eating lots of fruit isnt likely to be an issue as far as weight gain is concerned.
pics posted look just like sliced fruit and not a "fruit salad" where syrup is added. i wouldnt want to eat lots of fruit salad with syrup added.
I eat lots of fruits and vegs. For example, I have a bowl of blueberries and raspberries in the morning. A banana and two cuties at lunch. At night I eat at least an apple.
According to a nutritionist I have used- whole fruits are great but fruit juice is bad. This is because the whole fruits should have enough fiber to slow down the absorption of their high sugar content. Conversely fruit juices basically act like sugar. I imagine converting this to fruit cups would mean not getting one with added sugar or fruit juice. I've also been told you can substitute a fruit for two vegetables in terms of healthy diet.
The trick is also to know a serving size- a lot of bananas, large oranges and large apples will typically constitute two servings.
