Either a 10 minute walk, 1 stop subway ride, or less than 5 minute drive to my gym in the neighborhood.
There's a Soul Cycle and a HIIT studio I like going to in Williamsburg, but it's a three train, 35 minute walk/subway ride. I only tend to go there on the weekends when I have time to kill.
Wow that is quite a distance. Is it because you want to go to a nicer bigger gym? I'm sure there is something near by or you can workout at home too. Some people just feel more motivation at the gym
I live rurally, so the closest gym is a 30 min drive. It is just a small, locally owned gym - nothing fancy. And I travel to different locations for work occasionally, so that can increase my drive time to the gym. I don't have much space for home workouts and I do just feel more motivated at a gym.
I won't lie, the drive gets to me on days I am already not wanting to go/feeling as motivated. But when I get there I do fine.
When we went to Planet Fitness it was a 20 minute drive and fairly inconvenient. Now we go to a big gym closer to our house and it's literally on our way to and from work. I go at 4am every morning so considering it's about 50 yards from the highway I travel my out of the way commute time is about 30 seconds.
What are your work out hours and how long does it take to get there?
I gave up driving to the gym last year despite the fact it was only a mile away. Standing in line to share machines with a bunch of sweaty people didn't keep me interested for long. I ended up dropping $2600 on a NordicTrack Freestride Trainer... got 2 years of iFit trainer workout stuff and turned the spare bedroom into the fitness room.
For some reason it motivated me and I lost 50 lbs initially. Now I'm working on the 2nd round of 50 lbs working out 1 hour per day and eating healthy.
2 minutes, less than one block. To me a gym is a gym. I won’t go far. I go at 6am during the week and 7am on weekends, for usually one hour.
Now with the pandemic, I work out at home, climbing stairs for an hour. It’s a surprisingly good workout, although boring and excruciatingly painful.
When I was able to go into work, I had a 2 minute walk to get to our company's gym to work out. I miss those days since I have to work from home.
