but all that wont mean jack sht if the guy/gal next to you sneezes/coughs on you. That's the misconception that people have about the virus. Yes, practicing safe hygiene like washing hands is very important, but equally important is not having some contagious person next to you. THAT will spread the virus no matter how many times you wash your hands.
That is true. Personally I haven't been to my gym in over a week. It is really bumming me out. I was just giving that person an option.

Great point.
I go to LA Fitness and I've witnessed 3 members do snot rockets while working out. Repulsive.
I go to the local college gym. Spring break has been extended there. I’m often the only one there. 2-3 people at most. Love it. Plus I’m in a rural area in Wyoming. When it gets busy again I’ll have to reconsider.
I'm continuing to go. People in my gym are good about using the disinfectant to clean machines when they are done, and I have noticed the staff cleaning more. I know myself, and if I stop going I will have a hard time going back once things are normal again. I'm not in a high risk group and I figure all of the risks inactivity bring to my health outweigh the risks from the virus.

I'm in the New York City area, btw.
There's a LA Fitness about a mile from my house where I did a 7 day trial. Thank you for reminding me why I passed on membership and bought my own elliptical.
I'm still going to the gym (on base in DC). I go after hours, and was only one of two people working out last night around 8PM. I am wiping down equipment before and after use (I am not taking any chances that someone doesn't wipe down after they have used a piece of equipment).
Yes, its a risk (as is going outside in general), but I feel better in that most others seem to be avoiding the gym so the risk seems to be less than it could be otherwise. At least where I am.
I'm not confident in 24 Hour Fitness keeping their gyms clean. And I'm not confident in other people keeping good hygiene. I'm running outside. Even in the rain, which it has been doing all week in SoCal. Better safe than sorry.
I just got home from the Y. Haven't changed anything.
Did you notice fewer people at the gym?
