yeah i'm staying home. Let's just say that some people at my gym practice less than ideal hygienic methods before the coronavirus (not wiping down machines when they were done, one guy would sweat buckets, with puddles of sweat drenching his elliptical and leave it like that) so I'm definitely not going to take the chance now.
I bought my NT elliptical last year because owning the machine was more motivating than going to the gym and because I didn't want to have to deal with sharing equipment with sweaty people while paying membership fees.
Funny how things work out. Am I worried about CV? Not really... but I am avoiding crowds and if I were a gym member I'd be finding alternative methods to work out at home.
Just be smart about going. Wipe down everything before AND after with wipes. Do not touch your face. After your workout while still at the gym wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for 20 seconds.

but all that wont mean jack sht if the guy/gal next to you sneezes/coughs on you. That's the misconception that people have about the virus. Yes, practicing safe hygiene like washing hands is very important, but equally important is not having some contagious person next to you. THAT will spread the virus no matter how many times you wash your hands.
It would depend whether staff is cleaning machines regularly. I wipe the machines before I use them even if I see someone wipe it when they finish.
