SoCal apartment closed the gym over a week ago. My wife has been jogging around the tennis courts for now. I wonder if free weights are as hard to find as TP right now.
A home gym is better in the home IMO......for comfort....or who is going to want to use it regularly?
I'm ita with Florida tho.......I used to kinda think home gyms were unnecessary........BUT I was wrong. I'm totally loving it now that most gyms are closed...............
It as the best place to place it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I see exercise equipment on sale on Walmart's website on facebook marketplace and a little bit on craigslist. People tend to become impulse and panic buyers during times like this.
Yes all the gyms are closed including the gyms in residential buildings and residential communities. I am working out from home as all the gyms are closed.
Some cities and states are banning gyms, even in residential buildings and residential communities (i.e., not open to the general public).
If your residential building/community has a small gym (such as one that only one person or two people can use at a time--such as an exercise bike in a closet, or something similar), is it closed? Or is it so small, and open only to residents, that it's open?
Trying to see the scope of bans of "gyms", and if you have a tiny workout space if that counts as a "gym" that is generally closed these days.
Thanks.
We closed down our gym, our pool, and the offices. People can only communicate with the office staff via phone calls. They are also not taking any UPS or other shipments into the office that might be incoming for residents. In addition, maintenance staff are only doing emergency calls to units, things like ac out, etc.
At one high end property my one son manages, they tried closing the pool, but the residents complained, so they reopened it with some rules. No big groups, they put the deck chairs 6 feet apart, and people were not supposed to gather in groups, they were supposed to stay apart. Well, that lasted a short time because he found people had pushed the chairs together to mingle, they were hanging out in large groups, and people were ignoring the rules. So, today they are going to close the pool because people refuse to take this seriously on their own.
Location: As of 2022….back to SoCal. OC this time!

In the garage? Not to me..........but it depends on your climate & ventilation.........but with so many gyms closed right now it makes sense for something temporary if you don't already have a home gym in your house...............
Gym is a major breeding ground for germs, definitely a big no going there during these times. You should go out running or pick up some indoor work out techniques.

There really wasn't a place for it. I got rid of it because it took up space in the garage and wasn't the easiest to move since it was sitdown bike.
Commenting from Canada here.
Yes all common areas are closed in my building. Pool, sauna, gym, courts, club area and library.
Visiting has been ordered stopped. Every one has been ordered to stay home except for essential trips for groceries and medication. Some medical specialists have closed their offices.
The streets are all but empty.
All non-essential businesses have been ordered to close including dentists, podiatrists, etc.
Grocery stores, pharmacies, and the like have reduced their hours but remain open.
Seniors' facilities are all locked down.
